Camp JRF is looking for creative, energetic, talented, upbeat, responsible, and excited Jewish college students to be on our staff for Summer 2014. Successful applicants will have a commitment to the ideals of Reconstructionist Judaism and experience working with youth. All applicants must fill out an application and schedule an interview with a member of the camp staff.
Our madrikhim (counselors) serve as cabin counselors and as program leaders and specialists. Being a counselor is a demanding and rewarding position which allows for in-depth, exciting, and meaningful interaction with campers of all ages. Counselors are high school graduates or older. Rashei eidot (unit heads) are typically college graduates or older who serve as program directors and coordinators for their units and as members of the all-camp planning team. Specialists round out the staff, bringing their expertise in a specific programmatic area to the camp community.
We choose our staff members for their maturity, Judaic knowledge, special skills, camping and youth experience, and genuine care for children. Our staff is extensively trained in counseling techniques, child development, and camp life. The safety and well being of our campers is our foremost concern and each staff member takes this responsibility personally. Camp JRF staff members bring positive, safe, and Jewish experiences to each of our campers.
Volunteers, faculty members (rabbis, cantors, and educators), health professionals, site support staff, and our year-round administrative and programmatic staff complete the Camp JRF family.
